Politicians have long used division, fear, and attacks on civil rights to hold onto political power. These tactics aren’t new and they aren’t accidental. Join us to hear from legal scholar and civil rights advocate Dr. Kimberlé Crenshaw as we discuss the moment we are in, how we got here, and why anti-Blackness is at the center of so many of today’s political attacks. She will share her own journey and motivation for her new book Backtalker, why understanding anti-Blackness is essential to protecting democracy, and what we can do to fight extremism together.
