As citizens, we can’t let the policies and actions of the Federal Government and unelected billionaires be normalized, but we can only stop what’s going on by coming together. A STANDING RALLY will draw attention to the situation, encouraging our neighbors to join with us. We will rally every Saturday morning from 11 AM – 12 PM. Stay for the full hour or come by when and for how long you can. We will peacefully line the sidewalk on all four corners of 87th Parkway and Maurer Road, holding signs on issues that are most meaningful to us or just simply standing in support of our neighbors and our country. If sitting is more comfortable for you, you are very welcome to bring mobility or lawn chairs!! There is room for everyone!

Notes from the organizer: Please be especially mindful of parking. For example, if you live relatively nearby, please consider walking. If you drive, there is street parking on the residential streets to the north and also a bit further on the south. About ½ mile down on the west, there is a large civic campus garage at 17201 W 87th St. Pkwy. In addition, on the SE, SW, and NW sides of the intersection, there are restaurants and shops with big, but commercially owned parking lots meant for customers, if you are one. Note that Lenexa Point on the NW side has recently put up signs, saying they will tow non-customer cars. If you cross from one side of the street to another during the rally, please pay particular attention to cars turning right as you cross! Participants should bring their own signs (if they want to hold them). Note that sticks supporting the signs can’t be pointed at either end. Also, in designing content for the signs, please remember that children will be present. Please stand only along the sidewalks parallel to the street and not on the grass. However, also be sure to allow pedestrian access to the sidewalk and businesses. We are not expecting issues, but keep in mind that a core principle behind our events is a commitment to nonviolent action. Remember to de-escalate any potential confrontation with someone, who disagrees with you. And of course, follow directions from our excellent Lenexa police, if asked. We will not have speakers (but do expect lots of cars with horn honking in agreement). Finally, please note that all our organizers will be wearing lanyards and neon vests, if you have questions.
