The “Parent Power Camp” is a training curriculum designed to introduce parents (and other public ed allies) to the community organizing skills they need to build teams and power.  Through this training, parents and caregivers will map out the key parts of building an action plan to organize other parents into important campaigns.

This training is designed both for parent leaders in established roles within their schools and emerging parent leaders looking to find ways to get involved in their schools or whose schools do not have current organizing structure. It’s also a great fit for older students, teachers, and other allies in the fight for amazing public education in Kansas City. (For this Power Camp, we also welcome parents and allies from other districts across Missouri!)

This training is a good fit for you if you want to organize with other parents to work on a key issue in your school, to bring a bigger issue to the attention of the district, or advocate collectively at the state legislature to defend public education.

Please fill out this interest form above if you would like to join the training. Your responses will help us clarify critical logistics like space size, interpretation, and childcare.

Please to email us at kcpsparentpower@gmail.com with any questions. Our training leads are parent volunteers with backgrounds in grassroots organizing who are committed to being a part of a community of parents in Kansas City and across MO working together to support our kids’ collective futures.
