The Future Is on the Ballot: Why Elections Matter in the Fight Against Climate Chang
Volunteer Blue welcomes Bill McKibben, one of the nation’s leading climate voices, for a conversation about why electing leaders who believe in climate science is so critical in 2026.
Climate change is no longer a future problem – it’s shaping our lives now through extreme weather, rising costs, public health threats, and growing risks to our communities. The choices voters make in 2026 will determine whether we move forward with solutions or fall further behind.
Bill is an author, educator, and climate advocate who has spent decades mobilizing people around the world to take action.
He is the founder of 350.org, the first planet-wide grassroots climate change movement and Third Act, which organizes people over the age of 60 for action on climate and justice. He has helped build one of the largest grassroots climate movements in history and continues to inspire people to turn concern into action.
In this 30-minute session, you’ll learn:
- What’s at stake when leaders ignore climate science
- Why elections are one of the most powerful climate actions we can take
- How volunteers can make a meaningful impact in key races
Bill will share stories from the front lines of climate activism, answer your questions, and discuss what we can do now to elect leaders who will take climate change seriously.
