This interactive training will teach you Right To Be’s 5D’s of bystander intervention methodology. We’ll start by discussing the types of disrespect Trans folks are facing right now — from microaggressions to deadly violence. You’ll learn what to look for and how to help safely. We’ll talk through five strategies for intervention: distract, delegate, document, delay, and direct, and how to prioritize your own safety while intervening. We’ll also make sure to practice the 5Ds of bystander intervention so you leave feeling more confident that you can step in to support the trans community. We’ll also end the training on a generative note by thinking about the history and future of the trans community in the U.S.
