Resistance & Resilience in America’s Heartland
President Trump’s administration openly embraces authoritarian tactics—defying courts, enacting cruel policies, cutting health care, dismantling education, and tightening immigration. While coastal cities dominate headlines, the central states feel the brunt of these decisions. In 2024, many voters in the Plains either backed Trump, abstained, or chose alternatives. In an era of misinformation, authentic, ground‑level stories are essential.
The Mission
“These American Crossroads” pairs award‑winning multimedia journalist Vince Chandler with Yellow Scene Magazine, Boulder County’s last independent newsroom. Funded by the community, they embed with activists and organizers across the Midwest to amplify real‑people narratives that national media overlook. From Colorado to Ohio, and now traveling through Nebraska, Iowa, Arkansas, Indiana, and Missouri, Vince documents the fight for neighbors and the nation. Recently, Vince was embedded with Missouri and Kansas activists on their journey to Washington, D.C., to speak out against this illegal regime.
